How the Architecture of Sound Affects Human Condition

Tastemaker Conversation
PUBLIC
sound architecture

Architectural spaces are de facto instruments—they collect sound, amplify it, transmit it and even create it. This has a tremendous impact in our wellbeing, affecting both our personal and professional lives. This Tastemaker Conversation explores the deeply intrinsic relationship between sound and physiology,  focusing on the importance of creating acoustically pleasant spaces.

——–

Psychoacoustics tells us that sound affects not only our physiology, but also our cognition and behavior. Urban noise such as traffic and construction have been found to increase blood pressure, decrease work performance and even worsen interpersonal relationships. On the other hand, biophilic noise, such as rainfall and birdsong, can lead to physiological restoration, enhanced concentration, and improved motivation.

Learn how to optimize sound to create experiences that delight the consumer.

Applying aesthetics to a product or service and eliciting the right emotional cues so that consumers are interested in buying it takes a great deal of empathy. You need to consider not just what arguments you can make—or what words you can use to persuade shoppers to buy your product or service—but what you can do to connect with them on a human level.

In this intimate workshop designed exclusively for A.I.Labs course students, Pauline Brown will guide participants in the application of their Aesthetic Intelligence in business.
